One thing that people are asking is “What can I do to help?” And, I have plenty of things that we need to accomplish/have to make this the best un-conference we can:

  • First, the biggest, and easiest thing to do is spread the word. We want everyone who is doing something interesting in the Omaha area (or is willing to travel here) to be there sharing what they are passionate about.
  • Sponsors. If you are a part of or know of a company that would be interested in sponsoring us, please let me know. My email is matt(at)nimblelogic(dot)com.
  • Speak. Prepare a session for the conference.
  • Sign up for the google group, facebook group, or follow us on twitter. Stay in the loop!

Reach Goals

So, if those sound too easy for you, we have a few goals for you.  These people are in town that weekend, so your task, whether you choose to accept it or not, is to get these people to our BarCamp!

We have a location! Frost Acres has graciously given us the opportunity to use their facilities for BarCampOmaha!

Frost Acres

August 15th - 17th!!

BarCamp Omaha will be held August 15th, 16th and 17th. A (very) order of events follows below:

August 15th - Friday Evening Party

The plan is to have a social gathering Friday night, meet and greet, get to know everybody. You will probably need to be 21 in order to attend this, as there is a very good chance that alcohol will be served/available.

August 16th - Saturday Sessions

Saturday is the big day! Come and share your passions, and learn what everyone else is doing!

August 17th - Sunday

Sunday remains open at the moment. We are thinking that a brunch would be a good idea, and perhaps more sessions if we run out of time/space on Saturday.

Registration is Open!!!

We need to know approximately how many people are planning to attend, so please register!

An “un” conference

One of the things that first struck me when I saw the format of a BarCamp was … that there is no really format.  The only structure provided is that there are areas for presentations, and presenters who want to talk in those areas… some sort of board is put up where people can put their name and topic next to an area and a time, and… its theirs!  You can talk about whatever you are passionate about, or interested in, or hell, even give a standup comedy routine.  I don’t care (* within reason *).

Just bring your passion and share it.  Thats what this is really all about.

HELP:  We are looking for a space that can comfortably hold 40-50 people, and has rooms where we can break out into smaller groups for the presentations.  That, OR a big open space where we can “make” the rooms.  Either way works.   So, if you have space that you could give us for a couple of days, or know of someone who we could talk to about getting space, please (please!) let us know.  By posting on the mailing list or sending an email to matt (at) nimblelogic (dot) com
